The largest installation in Bangladesh with its own funds. The Padma Bridge, the dream of millions of Bengalis, awaits the inauguration of three world records. This mega structure has set a world record in piling 40 floors, bearing capacity of more than 10,000 tons and river governance. If properly maintained, the bridge will not be anything in 120 years. That is what the people involved in the Padma Bridge are saying. According to sources, the Padma River is the second largest river in the world after the Amazon. Top in the world in terms of water flow. Such a building with its own money by subduing such a river. Piling to the bottom of a polymorphic river was no less of a hassle. The ground beneath each pillar was different. In the end I had to do 120 to 128 meters of piling. 10,500 tons of bearing bearings have been installed on the pillars, which is a world record. Once again, Padma had to be brought to the bag by ruling a record amount of rivers. It is known that in San Francisco, that is, in the United States, it is tolerant of 6,000 to 8,000 tons. 10,500 tons of tolerant bearings have been installed on the Padma Bridge. Another world record is that the work of governing 12 km of rivers on both sides here is the highest in the world in a single contract. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told Bangladesh Pratidin that some materials have been used in the construction of the Padma Bridge which have not been used in any other bridge in the world. The Padma Bridge has set world records in many ways. The cost of airfare from China to the United States for earthquake bearing testing alone was Rs 2 crore. The world's largest hammer has been used to build this bridge. The pile of the bridge is 122 meters long and its diameter is 3 meters. Such piles have not been used on any bridge in the world, ”said the bridge official. The total length of the connecting bridge and the bridge is 9.63 km. Although the project cost Tk 30,193 crore, the construction of two-storey bridge including railway line cost Tk 12,100 crore. Tk 9,400 crore has been spent on 14 km river governance, Tk 1,500 crore on rehabilitation, Tk 2,600 crore on acquisition of 2600 hectares of land and Tk 1,908 crore on construction of 12 km long 8-lane connecting road. Besides, consultancy, army security, construction yard and other expenses are Tk 2,500 crore. There are 294 piles in Padma bridge. The average depth of these piles is 122 meters; Which is equivalent to a 40 storey building. As the soil condition at the bottom of the river was bad, the skin had to be grouted in 61 piles of 22 pillars.

According to the engineers, the location of the pile is from the bottom of the ground to a level above the water. A pile cap has been placed on each of the piles. The pillars of the bridge have been built on that cap. The bridge has a total of 42 pillars. The bridge has been built on the pillars at such a height that ships of 18.3 meters height can easily pass under the bridge.
Shafiqul Islam, director of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project, told Bangladesh Pratidin, "I will make a guideline for the maintenance of the bridge." If managed accordingly, this dream building will last for more than 100 years. When to do something, what to do every day, what to do once a week, what to do once a month, what to do once a year, what to do five years in a row - if they follow these guidelines properly, There is no reason why the life span of this bridge should not be more than 100 years. ' There was great excitement among the people on both sides around the inauguration of the bridge. Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed the party leaders and workers to be careful so that the joy of this festival does not fade for any reason. It is learned that 206 lights were lit experimentally at the Mawa end of the Padma Bridge on Monday. Earlier, the street lights of the bridge were lit by generators. However, this time it has been ignited directly through electricity connection. In the last seven days, the experimental activities of street lights have been completed by lighting 415 lamps in phases.
As the day of opening of Padma Bridge approaches, new possibilities and expectations are being unveiled. In case of fog, any major storm or any other natural calamity, the Padma Bridge is forecast to meet immediately. For this, there is a weather forecasting center at Mawa. Information will be known two hours before the disaster. Project Director Shafiqul Islam said the weather forecasting substation is located at the Mawa end of the bridge. Warnings will be issued long before any natural disaster. According to him, if necessary, the traffic on the bridge can be controlled. He said if nothing was seen due to fog, traffic would be suspended for a while.
